Some suspected phone snatchers have reportedly attacked the spokesperson for the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ibrahim Rabiu Muti while going home from work in the night on Friday.
Muti, who has been discharged from hospital but still nursing the wounds from the stabs on his stomach, said he was attacked around 8pm at the Federal Housing Estate, Gbeganu Area of Minna, the state capital, when the tricycle he boarded was stopped by two people who were assumed to be passengers.
He said he was stabbed two times on his stomach before the suspects took away his phone and other valuables.
“I was attacked in a tricycle when two people stopped the tricycle man to board. The attackers came out of the nearby bush with cutlasses, knives, daggers and sticks.

“It was my uniform trouser that saved me. Other passengers had alighted from the tricycle; I was the only one remaining with the rider. While searching to take away my valuables, attention of one of them went to my trouser and he immediately alerted his colleagues that I was a uniform man. So, they abandoned me and ran away,” he said.
