Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has approved the appointment of Alh Dauda Iliya as special adviser on media.
The appointment follows the demise of Mallam Isa Gusau, who until his death in February 2024 served as the spokesperson for the governor.
The governor’s approval was released in a statement on Friday by his SSA on New Media, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi.
Iliya is currently the chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Borno State Chapter. He hails from Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area in the southern part of Borno State.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in English linguistics from the University of Maiduguri and master’s in Mass Communications from the same university.
He has attended numerous professional courses and training. A member of several professional bodies, including Society of Nigerian Broadcasters.
Until his appointment, Iliya worked as a reporter for Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), covering Borno.
