Gunmen kill 7 in Benue

Gunmen have reportedly killed seven people in two villages of Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.

Villagers said that the incident happened Tuesday afternoon at Tse Fela in Mbabuande and Tse Akyegh in Ikaaghev council wards, respectively.

The locals told our correspondent that they were at their various homes at about 3:30 pm when the attackers came upon them using dangerous weapons to kill the victims and maimed others.

Chairman of Gwer West LGA, Andrew Ayande, confirmed to our correspondent that seven people were killed in the attack on the two communities.

Ayande said the development had forced the villagers to desert their localities in drove as of between Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, the police spokeswoman in Benue, SP Catherine Anene, said she was yet to get any report on the matter.
