Gunmen have shot dead five people sleeping inside a mosque in Katakpa community in Toto LGA of Nasarawa State.
Confirming the incident to our reporter through telephone on Thursday, a resident, Ibrahim Yakubu, said the attack happened on Wednesday around 2am.
He said the shooting attracted some soldiers who mobilised, engaged the gunmen and killed several of them.
Yakubu further said the gunmen parked their motorcycles in the bush before trekking into the community.
Our reporter learnt that the five people killed were people that were displaced as a result of attacks in neighbouring communities.
The Chairman of Toto LGA, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Tashas, confirmed the attack.
City & Crime earlier reported that Katakpa community came under several attacks by gunmen starting from February 14, 2024, in which the village head and some soldiers were killed.
