Having gone seven matches without a win since the resumption of the second stanza of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Doma United are seeking revival as they host Gombe United in the north-east derby on Saturday at the Pantami Stadium.
When the two clubs met in the first round, Doma United as the visitors dominated proceedings and stunned Gombe United 3-0 for their only away win of the round.
However, Doma United have since lost steam as they have only managed to pick one point at home in the second round.
The ‘Savannah Tigers’ only point came in the 0-0 draw at home with Sports FC Lagos as the rest have ended in losses including the two home defeats inflicted on them by Rangers and 3SC.

Therefore, even as they are still better placed than Gombe United on the NPFL table, the visitors can draw inspiration from the decline in the performance of their hosts.
While Doma United have drawn one and lost six matches since the start of the second round, Gombe United have managed to secure one win and two draws at home for five points in seven matches.
Although both clubs are struggling, if current form is anything to go by, Gombe United are favoured to get back their pound of flesh from Doma United in the NPFL week 27 match.
In another NPFL fixture scheduled for today, Kano Pillars who are fast losing ground in the race for continental ticket will welcome debutants, Sporting FC Lagos to the Sani Abacha Stadium.
When both clubs met in the first round, the ‘Lagos city’ boys humiliated their more illustrious opponents 3-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena.
Pillars who fell 1-2 at Bayelsa United in their last away match will target the maximum points in today’s match to return to winning ways.
