Popular streaming and rental service platform, Prime Video, is set to release the first of its kind reality comedy show, Last One Laughing Naija, in Nigeria.
The show, which is scheduled to be doled out to viewers from the 14th of July, is an unscripted comedy show featuring 10 top registered Nigeria comedians: Real Warri Pikin, Kiekie, Taooma, Acapella, Gandoki, Senator, Buchi, Sabinus, I Go Save, and Okey Bakassi, contesting for a 40 Million Naira cash prize, which will be donated to a registered charity organization of the winner’s choosing.
Comedian, Basket Mouth, who will be hosting the show in the house, explained at a press conference in Lagos that all 10 comedians are expected to stay in the house for six hours, making efforts to make other comedians laugh and not laugh, as anyone who smiles, laughs or giggles more than twice would be disqualified.
He further described the show as a must-watch for Nigerians which promises to be entertaining, unveiling selected Nigerian comedians with entirely different characters from what Nigerians are familiar with.
He said, “I bumped into LOL Canada a while back, and I saw what they did. I didn’t know that LOL had already been launched in other countries. I was wondering when we would ever have a show like this in Nigeria, and about a year after I got called to host this show in Nigeria.
“When it eventually happened, I was amazed with what happened on set. The production felt so international and I was so impressed with what I saw. I have never been intimidated by any production, but I felt intimidated by this one.
“The show is amazing and I am happy to be a part of it. Everybody put their game into the show, the power and energy, and the end of the show will blow your mind. Because nobody would ever imagine how the show would end.”
