“We are announcing to the world the first-ever Wheelchair basketball National League which will dunk off next year. We’ve gotten the money already, we just need enough planning to make it a success,” he said.

Speaking at the Betking 3×3 championship in Abeokuta, Johnson explained that the competition was organized to hunt for young and talented players that will be invited to camp ahead of the All African Games in Ghana.

“These guys have been away from activities, and most of them have gone back to street begging, so immediately we came into office, we activated the series of competitions for them.

“Without these players, there’s no federation. That is why their welfare will be our number one priority.

“We are using this competition to spot new players that will be invited to the national camp ahead of the All Africa Games in Ghana in September.”

Our Correspondent reports that no fewer than 12 states of the federation participated in the Championship.

Oyo and Delta State men and women teams emerged champions respectively in the competition which was held at the outdoor Sports Hall of Alake Sports Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
