A former Super Eagles Coordinator, Emmanuel Danjuma Attah, has said his appointment as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian National League (NNL) came to him as a surprise.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Saturday, July 7, reconstituted the board of the NNL along with those of the Nigeria Nation-Wide League One and the Nigeria Women Football League.

While George Aluo was appointed as the new Chairman of the NNL, Attah who once served as Chairman of the FCT Football Association was appointed the CEO.

Reacting to his appointment, the former junior international said he was pleasantly surprised because he never had an inkling that he was going to be appointed.

“My appointment came to me as a huge surprise because I didn’t see it coming. A few days ago, I was with the NFF president, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, but he didn’t mention it to me.

“As a matter of fact, I knew about my appointment from friends who sent me congratulatory messages. It came as a surprise” he said.

Attah, however, expressed gratitude to the leadership of the NFF for finding him worthy to serve in that capacity.

He, therefore, said he will bring his wealth of experience as an experienced football administrator to bear on his new assignment.

“Although my appointment came to me as a surprise, that is not to say I am not capable or prepared for it. My surprise is that we are in an era where people lobby before they are appointed.

“With the support of the board, I will discharge my duties with utmost commitment and dedication to justify the confidence reposed in me by the NFF,” he assured.

Attah, who retired as Director of General Services Department, of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2022 once served as the corps Head of Sports among several other leadership positions in the service.
