A thrift collector was on Monday crushed by an articulated vehicle loaded with sand on the Amukpe-Sapele road in Delta State.
A witness said that the victim, who was riding a bicycle, was attempting to avoid collusion with a wheelbarrow pusher when the driver of the articulated vehicle who was on high speed ran into him from behind and crushed him and his bicycle.
He said the thrift collector went to the Amukpe market to transact his daily business with the traders and was on his way back home when the accident occurred.
He, therefore, called on the Chairman of Sapele LGA, Eugene Inoaghan, and other relevant authorities to take immediate action to address the issue of roadside trading, especially near the market.
