Stakeholders ask Tinubu to fix Nigeria’s challenges 

Some stakeholders including the Vice Chancellor of the British American Open University, California, Prof. David Bruce Day; Country Director of the university, Dr Otis Orji; Resident Pastor Living Faith Church, Pastor Israel Olajumoke, and many others on Monday decried the avalanche of challenges bedeviling the country and asked President Bola Tinubu to fix them.

Speaking at the 9th edition of the effulgence 2024, organised by the Kings College, British American Institute for the best Nigerian patriots and leaders on Monday in Abuja, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. David Bruce Day, identified division as the major problem of Nigeria.

“The biggest problem of Nigeria is division; it’s a shame. We will try to change this. Nigeria is going to be a super power. We must believe in our people. Let’s work on the destiny of Nigeria,” he said, stressing that President Tinubu is not the cause of the current challenges.

“There are different kinds of problems in Nigeria but you all can make a change. You always have a bad notion about Nigeria but you are going to rule the world.”

Country Director, Dr Otis Orji, said the country is grappling with an avalanche of challenges including food insecurity because of successive governments failures.

He said, “Does Nigeria has food security? The answer is a resounding no! So what do we do? Poverty level and corruption are very high; high prices of food items is a huge challenge.”

He asked the federal government to establish farm settlements with military barracks inside to ensure security and enhanced food security in the country.

“Over 18% of Nigerians lack food supply. There is extreme hunger and this requires fast approach to avoid high mortality rate and kwashiorkor. Something has to be done fast. Nigerians have lost hope

“Now, we have a government that comes under the slogan “renewed hope.” We hope that this government will take us out of food insecurity. It is not caused by this current government. Also remember that there is no government whether good or bad that is not appointed by God.”

Also speaking, a resident pastor with Living Faith, Pastor Israel Olajumoke, decried the challenges facing the country, saying, “political manifestos are long at campaigns but short at implementation.”
