The Potiskum-Bajoga-Gombe road, a vital transportation artery in Nigeria, has been a long-standing cause of concern for commuters and communities along its route. With its deteriorating condition and lack of significant maintenance for far too long, the time has come for urgent intervention from the Ministry of Works.

The once efficient and smooth Potiskum – Bajoga – Gombe road has fallen into a pitiful state due to years of neglect. The road is plagued with multiple issues such as extensive potholes, eroded sections, and worn-out culverts. These problems severely impede the flow of traffic and compromise the safety of both drivers and pedestrians.

Commuters who rely on this road for daily travel face tremendous hardships. Public transportation operators struggle to navigate the dilapidated stretches, resulting in increased travel times, escalating transportation costs, and poor service quality. The condition of the road not only affects the livelihoods of those dependent on transportation for their daily work but also hampers economic activities and deters potential investors in the region.

The communities along the Potiskum – Bajoga – Gombe road have borne the brunt of its deterioration. The inconvenience caused by the road’s condition affects the local economy, resulting in reduced trade and decreased access to essential goods and services. Students, as well as teachers commuting to schools and universities, face challenges in reaching their educational institutions on time, hindering their academic progress.

Emergency services struggle to reach their destinations promptly due to the poor road conditions. This delay can have severe consequences, particularly in medical emergencies or when disaster response is required. Additionally, the road’s deteriorated state poses a threat to road users, increasing the risk of accidents and fatalities.

Considering the critical role the Potiskum – Bajoga – Gombe road plays in the lives of countless individuals and the region’s overall development, we urgently appeal to the Ministry of Works to bring an end to this issue by rehabilitating the road for the betterment of the commuters and the community that lives there.
