As a concerned citizen and a product of the educational system in Yobe State, I write to you, Governor Mai Mala Buni, with a heavy heart regarding the precarious state of the Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) in Machina.
Recent developments in the school are deeply troubling. With over 500 students and staff members forced to relocate due to the imminent collapse of infrastructure, the very bedrock of our community’s educational system is under threat. The situation demands urgent attention and decisive action. The temporary relocation site, lacking essential facilities such as functional laboratories and libraries, fails to provide a conducive learning environment for our students. This compromises not only their safety, but also their academic progress and overall wellbeing. We cannot afford to let the dreams and aspirations of our youths be dashed due to neglect and indifference.
I urge you, Governor Buni, to prioritise the renovation and reconstruction of the school. This entails more than just restoring bricks and mortar; it requires a commitment to providing modern facilities and resources that align with the demands of 21st Century education. Laboratories and libraries are not luxuries but necessities in today’s educational landscape essential for equipping our students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive world.
Furthermore, I implore you to allocate resources swiftly to expedite the rehabilitation process. Every day of delay prolongs the suffering of our students and hampers their ability to reach their full potential. As a leader who has dedicated himself to the service of our state, I trust that you will heed this urgent call for action and ensure that the school receives the attention and support it deserves.

I appeal to your sense of duty and compassion; let us not forget that the future prosperity of our state depends on the quality of education we provide to our youths.
