Vehicles with tinted glasses are turned back at the gate of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano as management begins enforcement of the ban, highlighting the security challenges the hospital is grappling with.
However, staff or vehicle carrying patients are allowed entry though with some restrictions.
In a circular signed by Usman Rabiu Mudi, Director of Administration, the hospital said the ban followed the recent incidents of criminal activities, kidnap attempt using with tinted glass vehicles and other security challenges, advising staff to register their vehicles with the security office to get vehicle sticker for identification.
Cases of car or motorcycle theft and other valuables are frequent just as vehicle owners commit immoral acts within the hospital premises, prompting the management to impose the ban as a proactive move to safeguard lives of staff, patients and other visitors.

A student, Ahmad Bala, who came to the hospital with a tinted car, was turned back by security operatives manning the hospital gate.
Bala said the idea is good but students like him should be spared from the ban.
The Chief Security Officer of the hospital, Sani Ahmad Mahmud, said the idea of banning tinted vehicles is in the best interest of staff, patients and visitors to the hospital.
He added that, “The measure has become necessary in view of the security challenges we are facing and I will advise the general public to adhere and respect the order. It is in their interest.”
Many believe that the ban is a bold step to check the influx of criminal elements into the hospital where they take advantage of its vast area to commit criminal and immoral activities.
