Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has reiterated his readiness to build on his impressive debut season with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Speaking on Counterattack podcast, Boniface says he remains focused on the present as he intends to tread softly.
“The funniest thing is that we have not had a conversation about next season yet. We’re taking things step by step,” he said.
As the Super Cup final against Stuttgart approaches, the team is focused on pre-season friendlies with Arsenal and Lens.

Boniface has also acknowledged the challenges ahead, “Everyone will want to beat us because of what we achieved last season, and it’s not going to be easy.”
However, the striker is determined to replicate the success of the previous campaign, where Bayer Leverkusen lost just one game all season.
“We enjoyed what happened, how we made history and were celebrated by the club. And every one that witnessed it wants to witness more.
“I’m ready to give 100 per cent to achieve what we achieved last year, and I’m sure it’s the same for the rest of the players,” Boniface said on the Counterattack podcast.
The Nigerian forward enjoyed a stellar campaign, contributing 21 goals and 10 assists in 34 matches en route to Xabi Alonso’s men winning the double in Germany.
The Leverkusen star scored 21 goals and 10 assists in 34 matches in all competitions last season to help his side secure a historic domestic double in his first campaign in the Bundesliga.
