The leadership of Ansar-ud-deen Society of Nigeria, has called on its Muslim Ummah nationwide to embrace entrepreneurship skills with a view to supporting the government and their religion.
It stressed that relying solely on the government to provide jobs or employment opportunities, especially for the teaming youths in the country will not help Islam.
The Chief Missioner of the Society, Dr Musa Olaofe, made this call during the weekend at Public Service Institute, Abuja – venue for the 23rd Annual Ramadan lecture and special prayer for the nation.
Daily Trust reports that the lecture, which was organised by Dutse Alhaji Division of the society, had Statistician-General of the Federation, Prince Adeyemi Semiu Adeniran in attendance.

Speaking on the theme of the lecture: “Knowledge as light: The role of education and skill development in Islam’s vision for growth”, Dr Olaofe said the only way to help Islam is by embracing the skills.
“You see, God in his infinite mercy created all of us for a purpose. And when you’re very serious with whatever you’re doing, you need money to execute a lot of things.
“So, if you say because you’re religious, you’re doing this, you don’t need to be involved in entrepreneurship matters, where will you get money to finance Islam?
“Allah will not come down to do some things for us. It is we that must put our hands and heads together to make Islam great through entrepreneurship programmes and so many skills that can bring us happiness.
“If you’re working, and you know that every week, you’re getting like N100,000, you will know that in 4 weeks, you will go home with N400,000, out of this, you spend like N200,000, you still have N200,000 left.
“It will be difficult to start begging anybody for money. That is why Islam encourages Muslim Ummah to find one way or the other to do something tangible.
“You may read Biology and find yourself in the Real Estate sector, these are the things we don’t need to wait for any government again to give us salaries. When you’re doing this, you’re helping Islam, with this, the followers will emulate you further than anybody,” the cleric said.
He, however, called on Muslims to shun fraudulent aspects of any business or entrepreneurship they might have embarked upon.
On his part, the Chief Imam of Dutse Division, Alh. Abdullahi Awwal, disclosed that the branch has commenced empowering members who have started small businesses.
