The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has urged troops of Operation Mugun Bugu II in Niger State to continue to persevere in the ongoing fight against banditry and insurgency.

The defence chief gave the charge at a two-week exercise of Operation Mugun Bugu II 2023 at the Nigerian Army Main Training Area (NAMTA) in Kontogora, Niger State.

Musa, who was represented by Major General Jal Jimoh, Chief of Doctrine and Combat Development, expressed satisfaction with the display by the troops and charged them to always demonstrate a high sense of professional conduct in the discharge of their national duties.

He said Operation Mugun Bugu was to adequately prepare the troops to effectively discharge their duties in joint operations in line with his leadership philosophy of nurturing professional armed forces of Nigeria that are people-centric, collaborative, and capable of meeting their constitutional responsibilities.

Musa reminded the troops that the nation is confronted with a myriad of security challenges that have necessitated the deployment of troops on various tasks across the country and urged them to always get prepared to put into practice whatever they have learnt in the defence of Nigeria.

Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, represented by Major General SG Mohammed, Chief of Training (Army), said the Nigerian Army under his leadership would continue to carry out dynamic and realistic training to attain the degree of readiness required to tackle and surmount contemporary security challenges confronting Nigeria.
