Colleagues pour condemned oil on graduating mechanic in Anambra

An automobile mechanic apprentice, identified as Chidike, who recently completed his training, was doused in condemned engine oil during his graduation ceremony.

The ceremony, which reportedly took place over the weekend at an undisclosed location in Nnewi, Anambra State, was captured in a video that has since gone viral on social media.

The 23-second video shows individuals believed to be colleagues of the graduating mechanic pouring dirty engine oil on him as he knelt at the venue. Family members, relatives, and friends who attended the ceremony watched from under a canopy.

The visibly dirty engine oil, stored in gallons, was emptied over him as he rubbed it all over his body, including his nose, eyes, ears, and mouth, turning his skin black from the saturation.

Although the full identity of the graduating mechanic and the exact location of the incident could not be confirmed at the time of this report, a source on social media claimed to know about the event.

The source said it occurred over the weekend in Nnewi, the automobile hub of Anambra State, and revealed that the mechanic’s name is Chidike.

“This happened this weekend in Nnewi. His name is Chidike. Congrats, bro! ‘You go make am’,” wrote Malizu P. Joyce in reaction to the video.

The video has sparked a flurry of reactions from social media users, with many sharing their opinions on the incident.
