Benue IDP delivered of twins, gets governor’s wife support

The IDP camp was attacked by gunmen on April 26, 2021, killing seven people and leaving many others injured.

Wife of the Benue State Governor, Eunice Ortom, has donated food and non-food items to the survivor of the attack on the Abagena Internally Displaced Peoples (IDP) who was delivered of twins.

Benue/Plateau Trust had reported the woman’s predicament in its May 14 edition.

Jennifer, a survivor of the recent attack on Benue’s Abagena IDP camp had delivered twin babies at the Federal Medical Centre in Makurdi through a cesarean section a few days after the attack, which left her husband with a bullet wound on his back.

The couple, after their discharge from the hospital, had returned with their new babies to the IDP camp where they had been taking refuge since fleeing their villages over an armed invasion.

The IDP camp was attacked by gunmen on April 26, 2021, killing seven people and leaving many others injured.

But, help finally came their way as Benue’s First Lady, through her organisation, the Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF), visited the family with lots of items to cushion their hardship.

The items include; bags of 100kg rice, provisions, clothes and other items.

Representatives of the governor’s wife, while delivering the items said that the ESLF in line with its commitment to improving maternal and child care under its Health Thematic Area, presented the item to the 21-year-old mother.

They explained that the intervention was a prompt response to the information about the family’s plight which reached the First Lady and her Foundation.

Jennifer while receiving the items, expressed gratitude to the First Lady and her Foundation for meeting her family at the point of their need, adding that the provisions would go a long way to ameliorate the difficulties she and her babies had been undergoing.

Her husband, 24-year-old, Isaiah Uta, thanked the governor’s wife and ESLF for the kind gesture to his family even as he confessed that things were really difficult for them, especially following his close shave with the attackers where he sustained gunshot injuries.
