Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are considering the option of consensus in the choice of the party’s governorship candidate ahead of the 2023 governorship poll in the state.
A former governor of the state and current Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume, gave the hint on Tuesday in Abuja, at the start of a two-day leadership retreat for the 32 aspirants.

Akume who said the consensus arrangement is proper and in line with the APC Constitution, however, said the aspirants are at liberty to test their popularity at the primaries through either the direct or indirect mode as stipulated in the party’s constitution.
The minister said, “There is provision for consensus in our constitution and of course, in the Electoral Act. The issue is consensus arrangement is wonderful. Difficult decisions are taken through consensus and no matter how difficult a situation is through consensus, you build up a consensus and then the answer emerges.”
