The Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) has raised over 20 poles and electrical wires in communities of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State following their felling by rainstorm.

Daily Trust had on August 22, reported how rainstorm destroyed electric poles and high tension wires in the said communities, leaving the people in darkness for more than four months.

Following the incident, the affected communities lamented that the blackout has resulted in a high rate of crime and economic difficulties in the areas.

The residents, while appreciating the resumption of work by the Jos DisCo, also applauded the Daily Trust report which, they said, prompted the company to act.

Mr Livinus Walbe, a resident of one of the affected communities said, “We are happy with what Daily Trust has done for us. The report has made an impact. It was their news items that made the JED to resume work.”

Sunday Angai, another resident said, “Now we have access to our homes after the poles and the wires have been lifted. We appreciate Daily Trust for the report.

“We hope that with the resumption of work, our communities will soon be in brightness and business activities will resume.
