The Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED Plc) has called on members of the public to observe the right-of-way as a safety measure when constructing their buildings.
The Managing Director, Engr Abdu Bello Mohammed, gave the advice during a safety awareness campaign in the four franchise states.
Represented by the Head Safety, Mr Alvinmax Cyprian Yenkwo, the managing director told members of the public to always shun the temptation of constructing their houses under or by the sides of the electricity conductors.
According to him, “The Right of Way (RoW) is the distance of any structure from the middle conductors of overhead power lines of any voltage level.

These voltage levels, which he explained should be in meters, could either be around the following lines 330kV 50, 132kV 30, 33kV 11or 11kV 11.
