El-Rufai charges media on accuracy, pledges support for Media Trust

Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, Friday charged media organisations to be objective in their reportage, adding that his administration was always ready to partner with media organisations that uphold the cardinal tenets of journalism.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, congratulated the new management team of the company, adding, “We hope that we can always rely on you for objective reporting on what is happening and we pray that as you come in, your tenure will be one that is filled with stories of success and to move Media Trust to attain greater heights.”

The governor said the state government was ready to support people who want to go into partnership with it and stressed the need to provide accurate information at the right time so that people can take their own positions on what the government is doing and what they  need to do.

“Kaduna is home to everyone and we appreciate that you have a history here and you recognise that Media Trust started here in Kaduna.

“We are a government that believes in cooperation and partnership and we believe we can always count on you,” he said.

The Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Media Trust Ltd., Malam Nura Mamman Daura, said they were on a courtesy visit to the governor to strengthen partnership and introduce the new management team to the governor.

Malam Daura recalled that Media Trust started from Kaduna with its Weekly Trust title, adding that after 23 years of running the company, the owners set up a succession plan that would ensure that professionals who are non-owners run the company while they seat at the board.

Other members of the Media Trust team on the visit include the Executive Director/Editor-in-Chief, Malam Naziru Mikailu, the General Manager Human Resources and Management Services, Hajiya Hadiza Bala, the General Manager, Business and Strategy, Malam Ahmed Shekarau and the Kaduna Bureau Chief, Lami Sadiq.
