Soldiers have arrested a driver, simply identified as Shehu Bala and two other suspects for allegedly being in possession of stolen cows at the Bishini junction in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.
A security source who preferred anonymity and was part of the operation confirmed the arrest of the driver and two suspects through telephone to our reporter on Saturday.
He said they were apprehended upon receiving intelligence information that the suspects were conveying four stolen cows inside a pick up van from Akoti village in Kagarko travelling to Katari market last Thursday.
He said the owner of the cows alerted some troops stationed at the Bishini junction, after his four of his cows were rustled at a Fulani settlement in Akoti village, which prompted the troops to be at alert at the checkpoint.

“Already, the man and the chief of Fulani came and reported last Thursday, about the missing cows, which prompted the troops to be at alert at the checkpoint. And as God will have it, a pick up van driver thought the troops were sleeping at about 2: am when he attempted to beat the checkpoint but was flagged down,” he said.
He said the suspects confessed to stealing the four cows at a Fulani settlement at Akoti village and wanted to convey them to Katari market to sell.
A community leader from the area also confirmed the arrest of the suspects, saying the suspects were known for stealing cows and sheeps, especially at Fuilani settlements around villages in the area.
“And they also receive rustled cows from bandits to sell at Zango market around the area too,” he said.
The spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur is yet to confirm the arrest as at the time of filing the report.
