Bandits have abducted four farmers and stolen food items at Arikon village in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.

A community leader in the area confirmed the incident to our reporter over the phone on Wednesday, saying it happened on Tuesday around 5:12pm.

He said the bandits abducted two of the farmers at neighbouring Impi village before proceeding to Arikon where they abducted a man and a woman who were returning from the farm.

He said the bandits broke into a store where some farm produce were kept and made away with a bag of local rice and yam tubers.

“The bandits, who came on motorcycles, broke into the store at Impi village, which is just some kilometres away from Arikon and stole a bag of rice and yam tubers,” he said.

The community leader said the incident happened shortly after soldiers, who were on patrol, left the two communities.

The spokesman of the state police command, ASP Hassan Mansur, could not be reached for comments on the incident.
