The crisis of confidence rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, will on Saturday hit a climax as no fewer than 70 heavyweights and over 500 followers are expected to dump the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The arrowhead of the mass defection, and former Honorary Adviser to Governor Dickson, Chief Alex Ekiotenne who disclosed this to newsmen yesterday, said former Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission and ex-Special Adviser to President Umaru Yar’Adua, Chief Ndutimi Alaibe; Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; -former Acting Governors Nestor Binabo and Werinipre Seibarugu, are leading the pack of defectors to the APC.
Others include a former deputy governor, former members of the national assembly and former diplomats.
He said the defectors would formally declare for the APC at a mega rally on Saturday, August 15, 2015, in the state, adding that they would be received by Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, National Chairman, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and five governors among others. It will be recalled that former President Goodluck Jonathan, the party’s Board of Trustees and other stakeholders of PDP had met in Jonathan’s house in Otuoke, to resolve the crisis in the PDP about a week ago, but it seems the reconciliation did not yield positive result.
