The President of Afegbua Royal Family Welfare Association (ARFWA), Mr Abdul Amin Afegbua, has disclosed that the association has given scholarships to 980 students since the inception of the association.
He said this Tuesday in Okpella, Etsako West LGA of Edo State during the 70th anniversary of late King Abdulmalik Asekome Afegbua who died in 1954
He said, “We have given scholarships to 980 indigent students from primary school to the university level. Our scholarship is ongoing every year.
“We are doing this to honour our late father. He never went to school, but he loved education and because of his love for education he fought for the establishment of schools in Okpella community when he was the district head.”
Afegbua added that the association wa also empowering women and youths who wee learning trade skills.
Also speaking, Chief Abdulkadir Giwa noted that late King Afegbua brought development to Okpella community.
He pledged to support the Giwa family in their efforts to carry on the legacy of the late Afegbua.
