An Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State on Thursday granted a bail of N2 million to a 22-year-old driver, Blessing Egbayelo, over alleged burglary and stealing of N1.9 million.
Egbayelo, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a three-count charge of felony, burglary and stealing.
The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, while admitting the accused to bail, ordered him to produce a reasonable surety in like sum.
Ayeomoni said that the surety must be property owner within the court’s jurisdiction and must show evidence of one year tax clearance to the state government.
The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, said that the accused on June 28 at 3:30 a.m at Mama Nigeria Street, Ayeka in Okitipupa, burgled the residence of Lepe Ehinmisan and stole the amount.
Orogbemi said that the offences contravened Sections 360, 412 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges. (NAN)
