The Sokoto State Governor and outgoing Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has asked incoming governors to unite the party and put the interest of Nigeria, the people, and the party above personal interests.
He gave the advice at a special programme of the forum in Abuja at the weekend.
Tambuwal’s call was coming amid the crisis in the PDP that led to the defeat of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, at the February 25, poll. Though Atiku is challenging the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the tribunal, preparations for Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29, are ongoing.
Tambuwal said putting the people first was the surest way to continue delivering dividends of democracy to the people who elected them into office.

He said, “For my colleagues, outgoing governors of our forum, I commend all of you for your solidarity and comradeship. As a first among equals, I can vouch for the warm support and friendship of all the governors of our party. Sometimes it was tough agreeing on all things, but we never forgot to put our interests behind that of our party, people, and nation.”
The governors-elect of the PDP, who were received into the forum and given awards are Pastor Umo Bassey Eno (Akwa Ibom), Peter Ndubusi Mbah (Enugu), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Ameopusenibo Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara) and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau).
Also welcomed were three re-elected governors: Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa).
