Zulum’s 110 patrol vans will re-enforce security in Borno, N/East – IGP

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of 110 patrol vehicles and 500 motorcycles donated by Borno State governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, to bolster security operations in the state.

Governor Zulum handed over the vehicles to security agencies, along with 280 houses for police officers and their families in Maiduguri.

Speaking at the launch in Maiduguri, the IGP commended Zulum as a “Performing governor” dedicated to fighting insecurity in the North East.

“These operational assets will significantly enhance our ability to respond swiftly to threats, conduct patrols and protect communities in Borno State,” Egbetokun said.

He assured the police would effectively utilise the resources to improve security and safeguard residents.

Governor Zulum reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening security in the state.

He said, “Security remains the foundation of Borno’s recovery and development. Without it, our rebuilding efforts will not yield the desired results.

“By supporting security forces, we are investing in force multipliers and operational effectiveness.”

He also expressed appreciation for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership in supporting security initiatives across the country, particularly in Borno.

The Nigeria Police Force will receive 60 of the 110 vehicles, while the Nigerian military will get 50 vehicles and all 500 motorcycles.

Also, the police will benefit from 280 new housing units across three locations in Maiduguri – Mai Mala Buni Estate (220 units), Kashim Shettima Estate (20 units) and Wulari (40 units).

Governor Zulum pledged continued collaboration with security agencies to ensure lasting peace in the North East.
