The Yobe State government has announced that the construction of the Damaturu Mega Industrial Village in the 2023 Budget will soon commence to provide the necessary infrastructure for the industrialisation of the state.
Governor Mai Mala Buni stated this when he received 45 participants of the Senior Executive Course of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), Kuru, who paid him a courtesy visit as part of their study tour in Damaturu.
Represented by the Ag Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Baba Malam Wali, Governor Buni said the largest portion of Yobe State population is farmers, pointing out that at the end of the study tour, they will come out with far-reaching recommendations that will assist Yobe State in addressing relevant challenges for socio-economic development and prosperity.
Buni said Yobe State faces natural threats such as drought, flooding, soil degradation and desertification but the government has been making concerted efforts to mitigate the impact of the disasters.
He said the study tour, in addition to consolidating the good relationship between the Yobe State government and the institute, also provides rare opportunities to share ideas for making more progress in the state and overall national development.
