The Yobe State Government has approved the sum of N35,000 wage awards to civil servants as a palliative to cushion the effect of subsidy removal.

This was contained in a memo signed by the acting Head of Service, Hamidu M. Alhaji, and forwarded to the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali.

The memo, which said Governor Mai Mala Buni approved the appointment of SSG as chairman of the committee on N35,000 wage award to civil servants, also revealed that the committee has six members with Permanent Secretary Establishment as secretary of the committee.

The committee will determine the financial implication of the implementation of the wage awards and to negotiate with the labour unions on acceptable rates both to government and unions.
