The governor explained that it was because he stopped taking orders from the PDP leader that he wants him sacked as governor.
The governor made this known in Benin last Thursday while swearing in three newly appointed commissioners in the state.
Adams Osiomhole who acknowledged that his one year in office was slow in providing amenities to the people of the state blamed Chief Tony Anenih for the slow pace of work and poor performance in office.
He said “there was crisis between the executive and the legislature in the state when he submitted the 2009 appropriation to the state House of Assembly. Chief Anenih, under the guise of settling the dispute, invited me and former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Zakawanu Garba, to his private house in Asokoro, Abuja.”
He explained that during the meeting, Chief Anenih cancelled some of the projects he had earmarked to embark upon during the period. Some of the projects, according to the governor, included building of 19 model schools in the state, importation of one hundred long buses to ease transportation in the state, construction of roads within Benin metropolis, among others.
He said, to his surprise, the godfather who made the one year in office to fail, turned round to condemn him for non -performance. “That was why I stopped taking orders from him,” he said.
The governor also explained that he started having problems with the State Assembly because they were more interested in obeying the command and doing the will of Chief Anenih rather than the interest of the people of the state.
He said, as an elected governor, there is no way he would abandon the people who elected him to cater for the interest of someone who had never won an election before in his life.
Oshiomhole said he wanted a better working relationship between the executive and the legislature in the state, he said.
The three commissioners sworn -in are Mr Anselem Ojezua, Commissioner for Information, Dr Cordelia Aiyowei, Commissioner for Commerce and Barrister Lucas Okojie Commissioner for Transport. The former Commissioner for Information Abdul Oroh now moves to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
