FG to review PAYE tax to ease hardship for civil servants

The federal government plans to revise the Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) tax deductions from civil servants’ salaries to reduce the burden on public workers.

Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), disclosed this during a press conference in Damaturu, Yobe State.

Represented by Mallam Nura Yusuf Kobi, Issa-Onilu said the PAYE review aimed to help civil servants cope with the current economic challenges.

He explained that tax deductions constituted a significant burden on workers’ monthly incomes, and the review was part of broader efforts to address the cost-of-living issues.

“The upcoming tax bill will reduce the deductions from public servants’ salaries, helping them better manage in this time of hardship,” he said.
