VSF donates to families of dead airforce officers

The Victims Support Fund (VSF) Task Force on COVID-19 has donated one million naira each to the family members of the seven air force officers who died in the Abuja plane crash last February.

While presenting the cheques to the family members of the fallen soldiers in Abuja on Monday, the Chairperson of the task force, Mrs Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, said the gesture was to provide succour to the family members.

She extolled the contributions of the fallen heroes in enhancing national security.

Mrs Akerele-Ogunsiji said those who served the country with their lives deserved to be honoured for their selfless service to fatherland.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao, represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, AVM Remigus Ekeh, said the force would engrave the contributions of the late officers as a memorial.

He gave assurances that the entitlements of the victims of the airforce plane crash would be given to their family members.

The Chief of Air Staff said the military was proud of the fallen heroes and would do everything possible to support their families.

The representatives of the families of the deceased airforce officers expressed gratitude to the VSF Taskforce on COVID-19 for the intervention.
