VSF Donates Food Items In Rivers

The Victim Support Fund, VSF, a COVID-19 Support Program initiated by General Theophilus Danjuma Foundation, on Tuesday, donated various types of food items such as rice , beans, groundnut oil, salt to about 3000 vulnerable families in Rivers State.

The organization also commissioned three bole holes constructed at Rumuokwuta Girls secondary school in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Speaking at the handing over of the food items to various NGOs in Port Harcourt for onward distribution to the affected families , the Chairperson of VSF, taskforce, Barrister Toyosi Akerele Ogunsiji, said the food items are VSF COVID 19 support program to reach out to many families their various sources of liveihood were affected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ogunsiji said though COVID-19 pandemic have subsided the impact it had on people are still visible saying that the food items are it’s support initiative to cushion the effect of the pandemic on many vulnerable families in Rivers State.

She said the organisation has constructed about 18 bole holes in schools from each of the three senatorial districts of the six States of the south south zone of the country.

Barrister Ogunsiji said that VSF was created by General Theophilus Danjuma as part of emergency support for the victims of COVID-19.

Barrister Ogunsiji said that the commissioning of the three bole holes in the School is a symbolic commission representing the three different schools across the 3 senatorial districts in Rivers State and other five States of south south zone of the country.

She said that the organization had constructed about 18 bole holes across 18 senatorial districts of south south zone, adding that Rivers State is among the 36 States that have benefited from the COVID-19 Support Program of VSF.

“We are commissioning bole hole facility donated to the victims of the support fund. This is a symbolic commissioning representing the three bole holes in the three different schools across the 3 senatorial districts across Rivers State and the remaining five States in south south zone. Rivers State is among the 36 States of the country that are benefitting from the COVID-19 Support Program of VSF”

“This is the official closing ceremony of COVID-19 program of VSF. When COVID-19 broke out in 2020 a lot of citizens of the country suffered lots of challenges because of the lockdown. A lot of people lost their jobs , businesses began to struggle , schools were shutdown because there was no facilities to help them contain the virus and at that time the Chairman of VSF , General Theophilus Danjuma inuagurated the Taskforce and we have been going round the country since that time distributing foods, protective equipment, medical materials and constructing bole holes in the high density population in the communities specifically in schools”

“We have done this in all the 36 States of the country. The highest number of COVID-19 test kits was donated by the COVID-19 task force of VSF. We supported several institutions in the country ensuring that water borne diseases does not break out.”
