Adamawa Gov’t Launches Massive Fumigation to Combat Cholera

In response to the recent cholera outbreak that has claimed over 12 lives and hospitalized 304 others, the Adamawa State government has embarked on a large-scale fumigation exercise in Yola and Jimeta towns.

Commissioner for Education, Dr. Umar Garba-Pella, representing Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, directed fumigators to conduct house-to-house disinfection in over 20 wards and extend the exercise to all 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

“The government has dedicated the September monthly sanitation exercise to curb the cholera outbreak,” Dr. Pella said. “Fumigation and sprays will target destructive insects like mosquitoes and their larvae, ensuring a healthy environment.”

The exercise has received positive feedback, with high compliance reported in areas such as Shagari, Wuru-Hausa, and Upper Luggere.

Mr. Shehu Aliyu, Chairman of the Shagari Community Association, praised the initiative, describing it as timely and beneficial.
