An e-commerce platform which will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning to leverage its services to enhance buyer-seller interactions is set for launch in February.
Owned by two Nigerian IT experts, firm allows sellers to list products for free and guarantees payment at the prevailing foreign exchange rate, ensuring sellers benefit fully from international transactions.
Disclosing this during a virtual press conference, Wale Ayantoye, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GiriToday, said the platform is unique in many ways and embedded with features like AI-powered product recommendations, secure transaction systems, and tailored matchmaking between sellers and high-intent buyers redefine e-commerce for African creators.
According to Ayantoye, “We are out to help African entrepreneurs, and especially Nigerians, to expand their influence on the global stage with this revolutionary e-commerce platform.”

The GiriToday CEO said the app is the first of its kind as it is different from others already in the market industry, including Amazon.
“GiriToday aims to eliminate barriers that have historically limited African entrepreneurs. It is unlike traditional e-commerce platforms. It allows sellers to list products for free and guarantees payment at the prevailing foreign exchange rate, ensuring sellers benefit fully from international transactions.
“Particularly, this platform is about empowering African artisans and entrepreneurs. With GiriToday, sellers from Lagos to Accra can directly connect with buyers in the U.S., Canada, or Europe, earning fairly and on time”, he said.
Scheduled to go live in February 2025 officially, Ayantoye said GiriToday promises to redefine the e-commerce experience by providing Nigerian entrepreneurs with tools to access global customers.
The co-Founder of GiriToday, Ola Ajiboye elaborated on the platform’s purpose and vision. He explained that GiriToday is designed to bridge the gap between African artisans and global buyers, offering more than just a marketplace.
According to Ajiboye, the platform serves as a culturally rich hub that brings Africa’s unique heritage to the world.
He emphasised that the platform’s advanced technology, including features like body imaging and virtual reality, enables buyers to interact with artisans in an entirely new way.
