Troops rescue 20 kidnap victims in Zamfara

Operatives of the Joint Task Force North West Operation Hadarin Daji have rescued 20 kidnap victims in Zamfara State.

Eighteen kidnap victims comprising four males and 14 females were rescued around Zurmi and Birnin Magaji local governments, and two others along Shinkafi-Isa road.

A statement issued by Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the information officer of Operation Hadarin Daji, also revealed that a terrorist king pin, Sainaje, was neutralised by the operatives during a clearance operation at bandits hideouts across the state.

According to the statement, the kidnap victims were rescued by the soldiers on January 29, 2024 during operation at terrorists’ enclaves at Rukudawa, Dumburum, Tsanu, Birnin Tsaba, Magare and Shamushalle general areas of Zurmi and Birnin Magaji LGAs of the state.

The statement read, “During the operation, all the identified terrorists’ enclaves including that of a notorious terrorist kingpin identified as Sule were destroyed, as the terrorists fled their camps during a heavy contact with the aggressive troops.”

Captain Ibrahim added that all the rescued victims were handed over to the appropriate authorities with a view to reuniting them with their respective families.

He maintained that the Commander, Joint Task Force North West Operation Hadarin Daji/General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Godwin Mutkut, commended the troops for their continued doggedness and resilience.
