A magistrates’ court in Jos, Plateau State, on Wednesday sentenced a 27-year-old trader, Bitrus Dalo, to six months in prison for assaulting his sister-in-law, Mary Simon.

The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Dalo after he pleaded guilty, but gave the convict an option to pay N30,000 and a compensation of N35,000 to the complainant.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on March 14, at the B Police Station, Jos, by one Mary Simon, that the defendant hit her on the head and threatened to kill her. (NAN)
