The Yobe State Police Command has recorded 34 cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and related crimes in the last six months.
The spokesman of the command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the cases were recorded between January and June, 2024, with 85 per cent currently undergoing trial with a few convictions secured.
He said the command had achieved significant success in tackling the crimes, which often left victims with physical and emotional trauma.
He urged parents, guardians and community leaders to be vigilant about the relationships their wards had with others as perpetrators were often close relatives, neighbours or acquaintances.
