For quite some years now, once we entered yuletide period my heartbreaks because of the January 15, 1966 unfortunate fatal incident that occurred in our great country/Nigeria. Indeed, the January 15, 1966 coup is a catastrophe that can never be erase in the tortuous history of Nigeria.

We can’t ignore the reality of history. It’s on record now that, for 53 years after the irreversible incident, nothing was established to have been looted by or recovered either in cash or material from the late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sir Akintola and the rest that, the mutineers accused of corruption.

Similarly, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe and others from both Northern and Southern Nigeria that escaped the ill-fated incident, died and left behind nothing above the limits of their income.

Therefore, in this circumstance, shows clearly that, the Mutineers were desperate, anxious and greedy to captured political power through the gun. The future of the country and its citizens were not in their hearts. The January 15, 1966 coup plotters were also, selfish and heartless. They also killed with impunity and threw the country in to socio-economic and political mess. The colonial master/Britain, had concrete intelligence about the January 15, 1966 coup, but didn’t act well to stop the murder and illegal change of government. As at 1966, both the military and political class was still aligned to the colonialists. To this regard, we have every reason to suspect Britain of conspiracy in the murder of the Northern elites.

We should resist any temptation from some unpatriotic politicians that are losers even in their own constituencies, clamouring for restructuring of the country. This class of political losers has no hope and political value. They are desperate to get relevance. Therefore, they are trying by all means, to cause confusion and enmity among ourselves, in order to achieve their selfish interest. We should focus to restructure our economy to attract foreign investments,  creation of job opportunities for our teeming unemployed Youths, quality education, very good health care, to honestly revive our agricultural and industrial sectors, ensure proper security, effective and efficient power supply, improve our country’s infrastructures, communication, transportations and all aspects of social life.
