Shehu Sani: Gumi filling the vacuum created by government’s failure

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has said government’s failure to provide adequate security forced the prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, to be discussing with bandits.

In a series of tweets, the former lawmaker said the Buhari administration has failed woefully in terms of security.

“If the Government had not woefully failed in securing the lives of the people, there could not have been Sheikh Gumi’s intervention. He just stepped into a vacuum.”

The Senator alleged that the government is not taking the issue of insecurity seriously because it is not being affecting directly.

“If big men or their own are kidnapped, you will not hear such a fiery threat from Government officials that will put the lives of the victims in greater danger, the issue will just quietly be resolved,” he said.

His comments comes at a time when hope is high on the release of the victims abducted at Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State.

Gumi and officials of the Niger State government have been talking with the armed gang over the release of the victims and some passengers abducted last Sunday.

The respected cleric had earlier met with armed gangs across Zamfara forests.
