The Rotary International District 9125 have organized a golf tournament to celebrate the forthcoming World Polio Day at the IBB International Golf & Country Club.
The tournament according to the District governor, Victor Onukwugha was initiated to generate awareness towards eradication of polio as well as to commemorate the efforts of those committed to the eradication of Polio.
“Rotary club has been in the forefront of fighting polio across the world. We have achieved a very big milestone in this country.
We have successfully kicked out polio, now we are kicking the ball. We will continue to carry out immunization in all areas prone to polio,” he said.
The chairman of National Polio Committee, Rotary, Nigeria, Dr Tunji Funsho said exercise through sports was vital to kick out polio as well as other diseases.
“Every human disease has components that keeping fit allows you to prevent or in some cases even cure. The body is its own best doctor and most of the drugs we use surmount illness.
“The more you exercise, the more your immune system is able to protect against infections,” he said.
