A well-known singer from Nigeria, Divine Ikubor aka Rema, has created history by being the first African musician to win a Chinese music award.

The singer accomplished this after winning Best Collaboration of the Year at the 2024 Hito Music Award in the Republic of China with his song “Calm Down” remix featuring American superstar Selena Gomez.

Hit FM, Taiwan presented the award, with DJ Andy serving as host.

Rema is one of the few foreign musicians to have won the Taiwanese award, along with American and British performers.

With more than six Grammys, American pop sensation Taylor Swift is among the most renowned international performers at the ceremony.
