The Rivers State Police Command said it has recovered the body of a notorious cult leader, who was behind the killing of a senior police officer in the state.

The decomposing body of the alleged cultist, Gift Okpara, popularly known as 2Baba, who was linked to the killing of the Divisional Police Officer for Ahoada, Bako Angbashim, a Superintendent of Police, was recovered in a shallow grave in Ebrass community in Ahoada.

The State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, who displayed the body before journalists on Friday, said it was recovered based on credible information at its disposal on Friday, February 23, 2024.

Disu said the credible information led its tactical operatives to successfully locate the shallow grave of Gift Okpara, a notorious Iceland cult leader in Ebrass, Ahoada West, Rivers State.

He said that his men were able to recover the corpse of the main suspect in the September 8, 2023 brutal murder of former DPO Angbashim in Odumude community, Ahaoda East Local Government Area.

He said the deceased suspect was killed as a result of the role played by its tactical teams and the IRT special team as well as the Nigerian Airforce who he said provided support.

He said the aerial strike on 2baba’s camp on February 10 resulted in significant casualties among the gang, which facilitated subsequent operations.
