Police nab 17 cultists, recover pistols in Abuja

The FCT Police Command has arrested 17 suspects over cultism along Gwagwalada, Gwagwa, Lugbe and Kuruduma axis of Abuja.

The spokesperson of the command, ASP Maryam Yusuf,  in a statement in Abuja, gave their names as Peter Ajari, Jacob Terkaa, Isiaka Abdulmalik, Akadiri Ayi, Nnamdi George, Tony Enejo, Abioze Samuel Cole, Samuel Mbachongu, Michael Malachi, Mbani and Chukwuebuka.

Others are Monday Ogar, Onyeaka Chinonye, Christian Chidebere, Chukwuebuka Onijbo, Okife Zion, Umoh Faith and Emmanuel Obinna.

She said the suspects were arrested by police operatives from the command’s anti-cultism unit during coordinated raids and patrols.

She said the suspects confessed to being members of Vikings and Aro Baga confraternities terrorizing these areas, saying exhibits recovered from the suspects were three locally made pistols and two rounds of live ammunitions, four cartridges, two knives, a chain, an axe, a cutlass and wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and charms.

She said all the suspects would be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation, while she implored residents of the FCT to report all suspicious movements, through the commands emergency or distress lines: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883.
