Police crack down on marauders in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has begun a clamp down on the criminals at Da¬maturu, following reports of shoplifting, theft, criminal trespass, and burglary on public and private buildings.

 The state Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, ordered a stakeout to apprehend the perpetrators, which led to the arrest of six syndicate mem¬bers.

 He said, police received a distress call from one Malam Musa Alhaji Audu of Nayi-Nawa ward, Damatu¬ru, reporting the theft of six tires and five windshields of tricycles parked in his vicini¬ty by suspected marauders at 0540hrs the previous day.

The commissioner, who spoke through the Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the ‘A’ Divisional Police Station swiftly responded and apprehend¬ed six suspects Abubakar Ahmed, (19), Hausary Ward, Hassan Musa (19) of State Low cost, Shayibu Adamu (24) of Tashan Kurma, Ahmes Is¬mail (22) of Nayinawa ward.

Others are Babagana La¬wan (25) of forestry, Bindigari Ward and Gambo Daiyyabu (52) of Nayinawa ward, all in Damaturu.

He said 13 tricycle tires, six windshields, four crates of empty Coca-Cola bottles, two bicycles and one toolbox were found in their possession.

He said the suspects confessed to the crime and were cooperating with the investigation.
