The police have arrested five suspects over the kidnap of three Fulanis in Kwara State.

The Kwara State Police Command, Ilọrin, also recovered two fabricated locally made guns, a dozen 7.62mm AK-47 live ammunition, eight expended 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition, one empty magazine, one cutlass and several plugs.

The spokeswoman of the command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP), disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

According to her, the case is currently under investigation and the CP, Victor Olaiya, has assured the public that every effort is being made to ensure the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law.

She gave the names of the suspects as Ibrahim Muazu, 30, Asimu Salisu, 25, Aminu Alaka, 25, Aminu Temino, 20 and Zakariyau Suleiman, 20.

Daily Trust had reported the kidnap of the victims and their subsequent rescue which led to the death of one of the suspects.

The suspect was neutralised during the gun duel that ensued, the police said.

The rescue operation, which was coordinated by police, hunters and Miyetti Allah vigilantes, led to the rescue of two of the victims, Halimat Umaru and Husseinat Isiaka after one Babangida Soliu had earlier escaped.

Additionally, two suspects, Saidu Soliu and Soliu Abass, who sustained serious injuries were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
