Members of the Ogun State House of Assembly have not been paid their constituency project allowance more than 16 months after their inauguration, the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, has said.
The 26-member ninth assembly was inaugurated on June 10, 2019.

Oluomo, who made the statement while responding to the submission of Mr Musefiu Lamidi (APM Ado-Odo-Ota II) during the plenary in Abeokuta, said projects executed so far by the members were done with their personal funds.
He expressed concern over “misinformation” that members of the assembly had received constituency project allowance and failed to do the needful in their constituencies.
“We have spent one year and a few months now. No one has collected constituency projects allowance because of the economic situation of the country. Anything we might have done is from our sweat.
“The assembly will not hesitate to do the needful immediately we receive any money from the government. We will announce to the people immediately we receive money for constituency projects from the state government,” he said.
Lamidi had during personal explanation noted that he was accused by his constituents of collecting constituency projects allowance from the government but refused to use the money accordingly.
Meanwhile, Governor Dapo Abiodun has extended the tenure of members of the local government transition committees in the 20 council areas of the state for another three months.
Abiodun, on Wednesday, sent a letter to the assembly, seeking approval of the extension.
The speaker, however, appealed to the governor to put all machinery in place and conduct elections into the 20 local government areas after the expiration of the new three months requested.
Oluomo referred the governor’s letter to the House committee on local government and chieftaincy affairs for further legislative action.
