The Jigawa State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has nabbed a 19- year-old man for alleged rape of a minor in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest followed complaints by the victim’s mother to the command on September 28, 2021.

Adamu Shehu, the command spokesman, in a statement, said, the victim’s mother reported that she sent her six-year-old daughter to buy a drug and she came back complaining of pain.

“He was arrested following a complaint made by the mother of the six-year-old girl who reported that she sent her daughter to buy a drug (Ciprofloxacin) from the suspect’s shop only for the girl to return home crying and complaining of pain in her private parts. And upon enquiry, the girl told her mother that Emma took her to his shop, removed her panties and had carnal knowledge of her forcefully.

“She cried for help when she felt the pain but there was no one to rescue her. He afterwards gave her biscuits not to tell anyone about the encounter,” the statement revealed.

He disclosed that the victim was rushed to the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) at the General Hospital, Dutse for immediate medical attention.

“Medical report indicates evidence of sexual penetration as there is stretching of hymen, bruises and blood on the perineum, and antibiotics and analgesics were administered to her,” the statement added.
